Responsible cannabis use continues after you leave the dispensary. Store cannabis in its original, clearly labeled packaging whenever possible so product information, serving sizes, and warnings remain easy to reference. Keeping products in a cool, dry place away from excess heat, light, and moisture can also help maintain product quality.

Most importantly, cannabis should be stored securely and out of reach of children and pets. Edibles can resemble ordinary food or candy, so they should never be left on countertops, tables, in backpacks, or anywhere they could be mistaken for a non-cannabis product. A locked cabinet or other secure storage location is a good option for the home.

Before using any product, read the package instructions and warnings. If cannabis is accidentally consumed, contact Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 or seek emergency medical assistance when appropriate. If a pet consumes cannabis, contact a veterinarian immediately.
